Special Needs

The highly trained staff at The Barkley understands that some of our guests may have special needs. Please feel free to discuss any special requirements with us when you make your reservation – as we will do everything in our power to make sure your pet is taken care of and provided for.

The following is a sampling of special needs that can be accommodated (charges may apply):

  • Special or extra meals
  • Special handling care
  • Bedding Upgrades
  • Daily Brushing
  • Puppy Care
  • Senior Care

The Barkley advises against boarding guests that have a terminal illness and are in the late stages of that illness.

Medical Care

The health and safety of our guests is our number one priority. We consult with our Veterinarian Advisory Board in order to continuously update our policies and to provide the best, affordable care available. All of our pet guests’ medical records, personality profiles, and special needs are carefully recorded to ensure a safe and healthful visit. Our staff of animal care professionals is trained for emergencies and conveniently located within one-half mile of two 24-hour animal hospitals. All guests must meet our published health and temperament standards.

The Barkley will administer oral and topical medications at $1.50 per dosage. Guests requiring specialized care are handled on a case-by-case basis, typically $5 per procedure. We are sorry but we cannot give injections. All medications shall be provided by owner, clearly labeled and must include written instructions with pet’s name, type of medication, dosage, and schedule.
